How well does Openbots Studio work with and deal with Citrix Sessions...? Is it strictly Image Recognition and Hot-Keys..? UiPath has something called Computer Vision so wasn't sure if Openbots has a similar feature or functionality...?

Hi Scott Taylor,

To address your query on how OpenBots Studio interacts with and manages Citrix sessions, our approach encompasses two primary methods:

Surface Automation Commands Combined with Keystrokes: This method leverages image recognition and keyboard shortcuts to interact with applications within the Citrix environment from a hosting VM. It's a powerful approach for scenarios where direct UI element access is not feasible, ensuring robust automation even in image-based interfaces.

Remote Command Integration: As an alternative to surface automation, OpenBots Studio provides the "Remote" command feature, designed to integrate natively within a remote session. This requires the installation of the Assistant application in both the Citrix environment and the hosting machine. This setup enables the system to connect remotely and execute commands natively, offering a more direct interaction with applications. However, it's important to note that this method's compatibility may vary depending on your specific Citrix setup. In certain cases, adjustments to the product might be necessary to achieve full integration.

Concerning your comparison with UiPath's Computer Vision capabilities, it's worth mentioning that OpenBots Studio's surface automation technique, while fundamentally relying on image recognition and keystrokes, is designed to be highly effective in navigating and automating tasks within Citrix environments. Although the methodology may differ from UiPath's Computer Vision, the objective remains the same: to provide flexible and reliable automation solutions within virtual desktop interfaces.

Each approach has its advantages and considerations, and the choice between them would depend on the specific requirements of your automation project, including factors like the complexity of tasks, the Citrix environment setup, and the need for direct UI interaction versus image-based automation. Our team is available to assist in evaluating your specific scenario to recommend the most suitable approach for your needs.
