Cannot use Web Element Recorder

I have been trying to use the Web Element Recorder tool and it keeps showing this error: "Unable to load the Web Element Recorder. Installation of 'Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 x86' is required to load the UI browser element."

I uninstalled both the Visual Studio x86 package and OB Studio and then reinstalled OB Studio which also installed the x86 package itself. It is still showing the same error if I try using the web recorder tool so I believe this is a bug.

Hi jeanne.t,

Thanks for reaching out, please note that the mentioned Web Element Recorder is a legacy tool that will be deprecated in upcoming Studio releases. Using this recorder is not recommended, but you can install the following dependency (x86) to bypass the described error: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784

When interacting with websites, we recommend using the Native Browser or Native Browser Legacy commands (which can be installed from package manager). Each command includes a recorder link, that can be used to extract the targeted element’s information The main difference between them is that the Native Browser command recorder extracts the element’s information in a tree-structure format. On the other hand, the Native Browser Legacy command recorder extracts the DOM information.

I am attaching a guide on how to setup the Native Browser extension, as well as a guide to start using the Native Browser commands.

Also, you can reference this video to learn how to use the Native Legacy commands: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyBmkKndD9M
