In order to create Application Instances, like Excel, Word or Browser, you will need to create a variable or argument of type OBAppInstance to hold its value. You can then use this value to reference the instance both in the script and across scripts.

Also, please note that when using any commands on Studio, you can hover over the field names to get a description of what the command does, the variable types each command field accepts and an input sample.

Is the download version flawed or only a partial?

Excel will not start. Excel Instance Name/Argument nothin� you type or try works. We assume this product is being dropped from development.
